No Slaves

Every action of government takes away a measure of freedom from the people. It is the nature of government – and of those who govern – to increase the power and authority of the government. As the power of the government increases, the freedom of the citizens decreases.
It is in the nature of humans to want peace, security and comfort; we trade away a portion of our freedom to achieve these. Alluring promises of greater comfort, better security or more lasting peace will often trap us into giving up our most precious attribute – freedom. We eventually become serfs, slaves, indentured servants to an unfeeling, remote, self-perpetuating government.
The humans that were ripped out of their homes and brought to a strange land as slaves have taught a great lesson. Many of those slaves sacrificed their lives in efforts to regain their freedom; others suffered terrible journeys, beatings, privation and humiliation in efforts to gain freedom. A few succeeded; it is their lesson that we should remember and honor.
Humans of the numerous American Indian tribes maintained long, difficult and deadly struggles to keep their freedom. The Apache, Comanche, Nez Perce, Lakota, Mohawk and so many more fought to the last full measure to keep their independence – their freedom. It is their lesson that we should honor and remember.
It takes great courage and profound understanding to fight for freedom. It is a lonely fight with weapons of bravery, wit, honesty, and honor; fought against unseen, unknown forces that will stop at nothing to defeat you. Each person must decide on their own to undertake the effort, and do so without hope or expectation of reward, and without hope of ultimate victory. For the forces that would enslave us are never still.

Blobby Blue Bland

I guess I should say Blobby Purple-lips Bland.

Was that speech not just friggin pitiful? Sad, tired campaign rhetoric. An address directly to the Leftists framed by the Cadets to explain sending in troops to withdraw troops? Some of the saddest shit I have ever witnessed.

Impetus, momentum, so on and so forth

When I get the nowhere to turn to feeling, I head on down to MansWorld and make bullets. Some times I just make bullets because I like to shoot, I like the mechanics and chemistry of bullet making and it is de-stressing.

Now lets imagine what is happening in the Halls Of Power today. Climategate has broken. The science is a fraud, the scientists are a fraud. The True Believers are freaking out. The spinners are spinning madly. Now it turns out people too smart to have ever 'believed' are 'deniers' I vaguely wonder about things. In fact vagueness is a plus to me. Anywho. If'n I was not aware of just how fantastic Banana Splits are, would I be a DENIER? If I thought AGW was just another scam in the annals of Humans scamming other Humans, does this make me a DENIER?
Back to the Halls Of Power. Ya think they are going to let go of their hopes and dreams and government grant money at this point in the game? No Way In Hell. Think of all the organizations lined up for a piece of the pie. They will not go away, especially when they were on the verge of realizing the socialist utopia envisioned by the movers and shakers of the AGW movement.
Yeah, there is a reason for the picture.

a little link....

Because he says it better than I can. Well, he is more willing to, anyhow.

creeping incrementalism

And other redundant phrases. Some musing on a Sunday Morning. My freedom to seek life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness has steadily eroded in my lifetime. A little here and a little there. I have done nothing to stop it. Now, at this point in my life I realize for my own feeling of security, I did nothing about losing my freedom and will pass that lessened freedom on to my kids and they will probably pass that lessened freedom on to their kids. Sure, I go vote in virtually every election, I blog, I do this and I do that. I peaceably assemble and all that. Even the peaceably assemble thing is in doubt. Every assembly I have been to over the years has had a ring of cops around it and they were not looking outward but rather inward. A rather cooling effect. Keep the peasants in line.
It turns out that the security I have is only security FROM government action. I have gained no other security. As long as I keep my mouth shut, pay whatever is demanded from me, keep within the painted white lines, carry identification on my person at virtually all times, don't say the word "faggot", stand in line to get a drivers license and on and on. Will I now roll over on this Takeover and Intrusion Bill? Do I have to act alone in the wilderness? For a second there I was going to write 'cold, forbidding wilderness' like I was Jack London or something. anyway. Are all citizens cowed and looking for security? Or, am I afraid to act at all anyway? Is this what I will pass down? I was afraid to act, I was secure?

The second part of the equation is Washington. It has become a separate Entity. It is no longer concerned with what happens beyond its borders. Conversely, I think the idea held by most who have not been there in the last 20 or so years is that it is a quaint little town full of museums and memorials. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It is a huge monster concerned only with feeding itself. Members of the legislature seem only concerned with wealth and power, two things they are guaranteed to get as long as they maintain a very faint relationship with common decency. For example, Ted "ded' Kennedy, Robert 'soon, just not soon enough, ded'Byrd, Bill Clinton and on and on. And the list is not unique to Democrats, it just seems that their voters are similarly less restrained by common decency.
I quote. "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

The last part of my morning coffee in my fossil fuel heated house on private property that I have worked a lifetime to acquire and have paid for completely out of my own labor, is, who is with me? Only fair minded, resolute citizens can effect return to Freedom. Only fair-minded citizens have had their freedom eroded anyway. It must come from there.
Well, I think the time has come.

MONSTER!

One of the most curious of current curiosities is the bile and venom which the left has lobbed at former Alaska Governor, wife, and mother, Sarah Palin, since she was named as the bettter half of the ill conceived John McCain campaign.

I've spent a lot of time pondering and wondering about why - what is it about her that so terrifies the left? She's normal, she represents American values, she's a REPUBLICAN woman (an anathema to those who think they own the woman vote), etc. None of these explanations seemed to fully explain the unprecedented level of malice and contempt thrown at her and her family.

I was listening to Peter Johnson, Jr., on Fox News this morning, and I think he really nailed it. To paraphrase and expand, he said that she is a lightening rod for the self-loathing of the left, and an represents an archetype of all that they despise of the American identity.

That's it - it's that simple. Their contempt is a reflection of their inner belief systems, and what they believe of themselves and by extension, all of humankind. Lesser beings always fall before their elitist zots, but, so far, Gov. Palin has refused to even run for cover. The nerve! The hubris! How dare she?

And, on top of that, as if more was needed to earn their eternal enmity, she epitomizes all that they hate about America: American values and idealism. Good grief the woman is an absolute monster! An attractive, effective, intelligent, self-made, middle class, conservative, all-American woman.

And, that's the rest of the story...

OK, I know I'm delirious. Maybe I have pre-traumatic stress disorder. Or, considering who's in charge of our national destiny, maybe it's the real thing. Regardless, I still wonder: our congresscritters swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution in order to serve (yeah, rough service that) as an elected representative of the United States of America. Since a goodly number of our thus elected and sworn congresspeople have not only not supported and defended our Constitution, but have aggressively gone all out to gut and destroy it, why is that not an impeacheable offense? In fact, are we, as citizens, ethically compelled to try to remove them from office? Is that even possible? Just a wild idea, a result of my delirium?

Who do you trust

Ok, there seems to be a group of people who think that Government-run health care is a good idea. Fine, if you want to believe that you can trust your health care to the Fed, I have one question: Do you agree with the Patriot Act?
It's simple, if you trust one bill then you should trust the other. The same group of people who supposedly trampled all over out rights with a measure to secure our country will be the same people who will tell you where and how you can get medical attention. I am sure that no one will try and tell you that you MUST eat certain diets, or that you MUST exercise, or that you MUST avoid certain lifestyle choices. Nope, it'll all be okay.

The Shrink

I like catchy titles. They are most likely only catchy to me but I still like em. If I was an organized person, which I am not, I would carry a little notebook and write crap down as it enters the stream of conscious thought. And I do mean crap. That is most of what runs through my head. Crap. Then, out of the blue, something cogent. Social engineering. The Fort Hood debacle demonstrates one thing very clearly. Our government only performs well a small percentage of the time. Remember all the recriminations after 9-11? Revamped all of the systems, we all gonna talk together, never again, yada, yada, ya? Same recriminations today, FBI wasn't talkin to the Army, blah, blah, fuckin blah, blah. Yet, on the other hand, the Fed is very consistent. Think of any fed program flyer. Picture of a momma and a baby, race indiscriminate, multiple language options, legalese about how this flyer is printed, how it follows discrimination law, notice of your rights and on and on. What if you actually know your damn rights and did not need to be advised of them moment to moment? What if the government did not perpetually push what a bureaucrat somewhere believes to be social nirvana? What if life was not FAIR? What if you had to TRY before five pound blocks of cheese show up in your grocery cart?
What if you could say out loud, "I think Islam is a kinky sex club and I don't want the dirt bags around me?" What if the social engineering that has been shoved down our throats went away? What if we had actual argument and discourse as a free and vibrant society? What would happen if we called a deadbeat welfare cheat a deadbeat welfare cheat and we called a terrorist a terrorist? slightly coherent rant over.

Fatty McButterPants

Well. I ponder thoughts this morning over a delicious bowl of Grape-Nuts. The little hard kind, not the flakes. Today's title is brought to you by various bloggers nickname for Meg McCain. Perty funny. Anywho. Not Mccain, just the word "McButterPants".
Then I think of all the efforts to label all of our food with caloric content and list anything else known to the State of California to Cause Cancer (boy, ain't that a whole nuther essay?).
Uh, look, people, we ain't fat because someone is forcing us to eat poison. We are a fat society because we are fabulously wealthy. Our "poor" people have color TV and cell phones. Which brings us to the real problem. White liberal guilt is the face of the anti-fat campaign. Our wealth is an embarrassment to the statists, our waistlines are a in-your-face reminder to them of that wealth. Of course, I am not saying something new here, guilt pretty much drives all thing statist. I am just admiring one more facet of the Fascist Diamond.
